Ahoy, Matey!

Welcome to Second Grade!  

This year, you will be, a daring P.I.R.A.T.E.  ED-VENTURER, searching for the “Treasure of Knowledge.” 

P.I.R.A.T.E. is an acronym (we’ll learn more about acronyms this year) that stands for you being a:

Prepared, Informed, Responsible, and Attentive Team player, Every day!

This means to be a P.I.R.A.T.E. you will follow our ship’s code of conduct. 

Each shipmate must be:

Prepared   – have your materials and supplies ready each morning

Informed   – understand and follow the guidelines of our classroom

Responsible – take ownership for your actions

Attentive   – focus and be aware during class

Team player, - cooperate with classmates in a respectful way

Every day.  – always be willing to give your best effort.

P.I.R.A.T.E.s travel on fantastic journeys!  Our ed-ventures will lead us through the magical mists of math, over rocking waves of reading, across wide sandbars of social studies/science, and with the peaceful winds of writing.   I’m glad you’ll be with me because our ship wouldn’t be the same without you.  ARRR!

Be warned, Bucko, each day, we will learn and discover many new concepts on our ed-ventures.  We ship-off on Monday, August 29, from Room 218.  Also, be sure to complete and color the All About Me poster.  It will be your ticket to board the ship.  I can’t wait to meet you!  Yo-ho-ho!
