You must familiarize yourself with the Amarillo College Website.  We will use class time to do assignments but you are responsible for the completion of these assignments if you do not do so during the allotted time.  I am the facilitator, not the instructor.  The instructor designs, grades, and assigns the classes for her portion of this class.  You will also have various reading assignments from various time periods of British Literature from me as well.  Participation, time management, and responsibility are three traits you must have in order to do well in this class.  It is a rigorous curriculum and very demanding. Having stated this, please remember I am here to assist you through this college class. 

Class Expectations and Rules:

I expect you to treat others the way you want to be treated.  Literature teaches us how to improve ourselves constantly, and writing gives us the opportunity to express ourselves.  The best learning is achieved in a comfortable environment.  We are different and no one is perfect.  Keep an open mind.  You will encounter many ideas that are different from yours.  These ideas may not be bad or wrong just different.  We all should work together to improve ourselves, after all this is our class.  We make of it what we choose.

The following rules are to ensure that student conduct is in alignment with the before mentioned expectations.  If not, student reprimand will be ensued.  I have zero tolerance for disrespect of any kind.

1. Cell phones are NOT permitted to be on and will be placed in the box by my desk.
2. Cheating and plagiarism are serious offenses.
3. Defacing of school property or anyone else’s will not be tolerated.
4. My desk and anything on it or belonging to me is strictly off limits—no one is ever allowed behind my desk without permission!!!
5. During this class, you will be on the computers.  I expect you to ONLY be working on assignments for this class.  Surfing or game playing on computers will NOT be tolerated.  Do that at home on your own time.
6. Restroom breaks are to happen before class not during my instruction time.
7. You must come prepared to learn and bring all necessary tools to do so.  Being responsible is one of the highest tenants of respect

I expect excellence from all students and will nurture you so that you will be confident in your English skills.  You must do your own work so I will be able to measure your progress and assist you in the areas of needed improvement.  I look forward to a great year and know that you will benefit from this class.  My conference periods are 6^th and 8^th, please feel free to come by for help.  I will be available before school from 7:30-8:00 and after school by appointment for tutoring.
