JONES MAGNET ACADEMY  6-8

COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Library Media Center

Goals 2009 to 2010

  1. To collaborate with the Graduation Coach.  Collaborating with the Graduation Coach will help to determine the strengths and weaknesses in the academic performance of the students.  We will target the 3rd, 5th, with narrowed focus on the 8th grade Language and Math students as these are the areas crucial for promotion to high school in accordance with Muscogee County School District.
  2. To collaborate with Math and Language Arts teachers.  Collaborating with the Math and Language Arts teachers will increase student CRCT scores as the students begin to demonstrate mastery using technology and other Media Center resources.
  3. To take complete physical inventory.  It will be necessary to inventory the complete collection as well all technology (hardware and software) assigned to the Media Center to assess the areas of opportunity.
  4. To evaluate the need for and purchase new technology that supports the curriculum in all disciplines.
  5. To weed and update reference materials. Focusing mainly on bound references for circulation.
  6. To evaluate and adjust subscriptions to leisure and professional periodicals with emphasis on Math and Reading.
