WEEK 02-02 TO 02-12 ELA6C1 - a. Identifies and uses the eight basic parts of speech and demonstrates that words can be different parts of speech within a sentence.
LAST WEEK, WE WORKED ON SENTENCE STRUCTURE -- IDENTIFYING DEPENDENT (SUBORDINATE CLAUSES) USING SUBORDINATING CONJUNCTIONS AND RELATIVE PRONOUNS. WE ALSO SPENT TIME ANALYZING, COMPARING AND CONTRASTING, AND WRITING THE DIFFERENT SENTENCE TYPES USING THE FORMULAS FOR EACH TYPE OF SENTENCE... THIS WEEK, WE WILL CONTINUE OUR WORK WITH SENTENCE STRUCTURE AND REVIEW VERBS. WE WILL ALSO DISCOVER HOW STATE-OF-BEING VERBS "LINK" TOGETHER PARTS OF THE SENTENCE (LINKING VERBS). WE WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY: LINKING VERBS TRANSITIVE VERBS INTRANSITIVE VERBS SOON, WE WILL BEGIN TO TIE THEM TOGETHER WITH DIRECT & INDIRECT OBJECTS AND PREDICATE NOMINATIVES & PREDICATE ADJECTIVES.

CHECKPOINT FOR READING: Students have received the requirements for the Third Quarter Book Project. The first Reading Log Is Due: January 29, 2010 and the Project and second Reading Log are Due: March 05, 2009! This time, the required genre is Biography or Autobiography. The project must be completed using a book from one of these genres. The deadline is right around the corner! Please be sure you are reading and logging your pages every night!
