Welcome to Literature 6, 7, 8.

Throughout the year we will read a wide variety of content, including short stories, novels, myths, and poetry.  Through class discussions, role playing, and group and individual projects, we will explore the personalities and motives of a variety of characters, the cause and effect of internal and external conflicts, and the timeless themes communicated through literature.  In addition to assigned class reading, you will have an opportunity to choose your own novels to read both in and outside of class.  Through independent reading, I hope you will discover yourself as a reader.  You will have a chance to "try out" different literary genres, including fantasy, science fiction, mystery, horror, historical fiction, etc.

Writing will also be an important focus of our class.  We will write a variety of forms, including both creative writing and academic writing.  You will have many, many opportunities to work on improving your writing through writing exercises, revision activities, peer editing, and teacher conferences.
