Happy Fall! Our household has been watching a lot of football. That is how I know Fall has begun. Sending out Happy Birthdays Wishes to... Taylor Hess and Mikade Johnson!!! ****Please check the blog for challenger math sheet info and HW packets. Also, a new rubric for 3,2,1 is under posted under the learning link. Hooray!!! I'm happy to annouce that we have a new student named Lydia!!! We are lucky to have her. What we have been learning: In class last week we created a giant jigsaw puzzle of the state of Georgia. It was divided into 5 pieces to represent our 5 regions. Groups researched their region to resemble what it truly looks like. Each group created the animals and landforms. Now that the pieces are hung up on the bulletin board in the room and Georgia is now back into one piece, we will connect the major rivers. The students will also label and identify all major attractions in each region. The students are doing a wonderful job. I am proud of their hard work and team effort. In Math, we have studied many different types of graphs. Students even were given the opportunity to collect data of his/her own choice and create a graph from the follow choices ( bar, picture, tally mark). After these graphs are complete, students will see their graphs transform on the computer by turning it into a pie or line graph. Please be sure to study those Sitton Spelling Sight Words. Those words will continue to be tested on all year long. This is a spiral program to be sure students really have the knowledge retained once it has been learned. These sight words/frequency words will help build speed in reading fluency as well. I will send home the phonics test short i sounds on Monday. We will now begin short o words. I know many of you are still wondering... "Why again your child does not have a spelling list to study from?" Please remember the strength of this spelling program is not to memorize from a list for a weeks long purpose, but learn spelling skills/ strategies for life-long learning. Reading groups are going great. We are reading a variety of text that correlate with Native Americans from all different regions of the United States. I hope that this will enhance students knowledge that Native Americans were located throughout the US. We soon will begin learning about the Native Americans from our region, The Cherokee and Creek. Be sure to check out the Learning Link and Updated Calendar. Whew.. Brendan, Ryan, and Sloan are fast on those puzzles? Can you bet them? Have a wonderful week!
