Faith and Bible Syllabus Faith and Bible Syllabus Class Procedures- Be on time When the bell rings you must be seated in the classroom, if you are late (not in the classroom by the bell!) You must go to the attendance office to receive a tardy slip. If you are unexcused tardy more than five times your grade will be reduced by 10 points (ex. 90% will be an 80%) - Prayer When class begins you are to be in your assigned seats for daily prayer, everyone will take turns leading prayer based on an alphabetical rotation. - Journaling Students are required to bring in a notebook to keep in class. A journal topic will be provided for you on the board and you will be required to write a full page that will be part of your grade! The content must have; - a main idea! - answer the question asked - details and specific examples (at least two) which support the main idea - organized (beginning, middle, end) - spelling and grammar - Homework All homework is to be written in your agenda during every class. Late assignments and homework will only be accepted half credit unless the absence is excused. If the absence is excused, the work will be due two days after the excused absence (example: sick on Wed. homework due on Fri.) It is your responsibility to ask about missed assignments; I will not chase you around to give you your missing work! - Tests and Quizzes Makeup tests and quizzes are only given to students with an excused absence. Cheating is not allowed! - Participation You are expected to participate in prayer, class discussion, group work and any other projects or assignments for the class. Also your behavior must be superior and follow classroom rules at all times! Participation is 10% of your grade in religion. Weighting - Tests 20% - Homework 25% - Final 20% - Journal 10% - Participation 10% - Quizzes 15% Materials Needed - Light blue folder with pockets - Light blue notebook for note taking - Any type notebook for journaling - Text book “Discovering God’s Word” - Bible - Notebook paper - PENS Classroom Rules - be in class before the bell rings - stay in your seat unless asked to move by teacher - no cheating rules in handbook - do not touch my desk! - no swearing, sexist or racist remarks - keep your hands, feet, and belongings to yourself - no eating, drinking, or gum chewing (I GIVE DETENTIONS AND $10 FINE FOR GUM) - raise your hand no shouting, no talking while others are talking - no sleeping or putting your head down - do not forget materials (books, notebooks, pens, assignments) Consequences - Warning from the teacher - After school conference with the teacher (if you forget or decide not to come an automatic detention and phone call home will be given) - Phone call to parent and referral to the Dean of Students Mr. Johnson Extra Help - I am here to help you succeed as a student in any way I can. I will be here before and after school to provide help in Faith and Bible. - Overall show R-E-S-P-E-C-T by… -listening while others are talking -being on time -showing eagerness to learn -taking pride in your work and in your school
