   Welcome to Mrs. Watkins' Kindergarten Class!!

Week of November 23rd and November 30th

Theme 3:   We're A Family

Shared Stories:  The Amazing Little Porridge Pot; Tortillas and Lullabies; Shoes From Grandpa; Families; and Which Would You Choose?

Phonics:  Our next alphafriend is Nyle Noodle.    We are also focusing over the next two weeks on action words and using order words.  Our next phonics reader is called, "Cat's Surprise".

Centers:    We rotate each day to a different center.  Our centers are listening, computer, art/writing and math.  Activities are provided at each center. Students also spend time working in small groups with me as well as our aide. 

Math:  We continue to use our number line by counting the days of school each day. Our number of the week is ten.  This week we will work with shape templates and probability.

Kid Writing:  Students will draw a picture and write words or a sentence (using their letter sounds) about their picture.  Our word wall includes the words:  I, like, we, play, and,  my, favorite, have, with, and see. We are also using fall words and Thanksgiving words, which are posted throughout our room.

Science:  We continue working with our first theme called, "Looking at the Sky".

Social Studies:  We have begun our first theme called, "Being a Good Citizen".

We have snack each day around 2:00 p.m.  You may send in a small snack and drink for them, or I will give them a snack and they may get a drink from the water fountain.

Please remember there is an early dismissal on Wednesday, November 25th at 11:40 a.m.  We will not have lunch or bagged lunch available that day.  You may send in a snack for your child.  Also, please remember that we return from Thanksgiving vacation on Tuesday, December 1st.  Please have a wonderful holiday.

Parent/teacher conferences are Wednesday,  December 2nd and Thursday, December 3rd.  I look forward to meeting with you.

           Mondays:  gym

           Tuesdays: 

           Wednesdays:  music and book exchange (Don't forget to send your child's book in.)

           Thursdays:  library

           Fridays:  art (every other week beginning September 18th)
