Unit 4:  Let's Find Out

Language Arts: 

     Shared Stories:  In the Big Blue Sea; Poems About the Sea; One-Dog Canoe

     Phonemic Awareness:  Blend and segment phonemes.

     Letter Names: We will meet a new alphafriend, Reggie Rooster (Rr).

     Words to Know:  We will learn the words:  'will' and 'be'.

     Decodable Reader:  "What Will It Be?" and "Rac Is It".

     Target Skill:  Author's Purpose

     Target Strategy:  Analyze/Evaluate

     Grammar:  Verbs in the future tense.

KidWriting:  We will continue drawing pictures and writing words/sentences to describe our drawings. Our word wall words are:  I, like, play, the, and, to, see, we, a, because, come and me, with, you, what, are, now, is, find, this, how and my. 

Mathematics:  We will review money, review subtraction and use the smartboard.  Our number of the week is '20'.

Science and Social Studies:  We have concluded our first unit in Social Studies and Science.  We will begin a new unit in Social Studies.

Specials:

     Monday:  Music

     Tuesday:  Library

     Wednesday:  

     Thursday:  Gym

     Friday:  Art 

Parent/teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, February 16th and Friday, February 17th from 12:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.  Students will be dismissed on those days at 11:00 a.m.

Students will celebrate Valentine's Day in the classroom on Tuesday, February 14th.  Students may bring in Valentines and any trinkets on that day to distribute.  (Please remember no food items are allowed).  I will provide Krispy Kreme Donuts for the class.  Students are also free to bring in a snack that day for themselves, as well as a drink.  I will have juice boxes available.
