   Welcome to Mrs. Watkins' Kindergarten Class!!

Week of November 9th

Theme 3:   We're A Family

  Each day, I will send home your child's folder.  Please check it each evening for any important information or homework,  and return it in their bookbag each morning. Please sign all homework.   Also, please send lunch money in an envelope labeled with your child's name. 

Shared Stories:  Jonathan and His Mommy; Tortillas and Lullabies; and Families.

Phonics:  Our alphafriend this week is Tiggy Tiger.    We are also focusing this week on movement words and family words.  Our next phonics reader is called, "The Birthday Party".

Centers:    We rotate each day to a different center.  Our centers are listening, computer, art/writing and math.  Activities are provided at each center. Students also spend time working in small groups with me as well as our aide, Mrs. Howey. 

Math:  We continue to use our number line by counting the days of school each day. Our number of the week is eight.  This week will play a game that involves rolling the dice and recording the number.  We will work with a pan balance to compare weights of objects; play dominoe concentration as well as the Monster Squeeze.

Kid Writing:  Students will draw a picture and write words or a sentence (using their letter sounds) about their picture.  Our word wall includes the words:  I, like, we, play, my, favorite, have and see. We are also using fall words and Thanksgiving words, which are posted throughout our room.

Science:  We continue working with our first theme called, "Looking at the Sky".

Social Studies:  We have begun our first theme called, "Being a Good Citizen".

We have snack each day around 2:00 p.m.  You may send in a small snack and drink for them, or I will give them a snack and they may get a drink from the water fountain.

The end of the first quarter is November 12th and report cards will be distributed  on November 18th.

Reminder:  There is no school on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veteran's Day.

           Mondays:  gym

           Tuesdays: 

           Wednesdays:  music and book exchange (Don't forget to send your child's book in.)

           Thursdays:  library

           Fridays:  art (every other week beginning September 18th)
