Curriculum Curriculum Update

September:

Phonics: Rhyming words, Review consonants, short vowel pattern powers(segment and blending), letter sound relationships, base words.

Reading:Vocabulary; Read regular and irregular high frequencey words, develop vocabulary through direct instruction, reading and listening, use context clues to develop meaning, use graphic organizers. Text Comprehension; Monitor comprehension, summerize text by retelling or identifiying main idea, visualize using mental imagery. Skills: Predicting, Main Idea, Realism/Fantasy. Literary Elements: Character, Setting.

L.A : Introduce noun, verb and adjective. Identify complete sentences. Word order in sentences. Word Order in Sentences. Beginning the writing process: Prewriting  Strategies.Mechanics of Writing: Capitals and Periods.

Math: Identifying today's date, numbers 1-14, graphing objects, identifying circle and square and triangle, pictographs, identify most and fewest on a graph, identify left and right, identifying sets from smallest to largest and ordering numbers from least to greatest, matching a number to a set, identifying morning and afternoon, first, last between and middle, identifying first, second, and third, some some more and some went away stories, making shapes on a geoboard.

S.S: Introduce Family theme. Identify the basic needs of a family, how are children linked to other people in their neighborhood, community, state, nation and world. Begin preparing to become a good citizen. Begin fostering pride in the United States.

Science: To be determined.

Religion: We Belong to Jesus' Church, We Gather to Celebrate Mass, God's Word Teaches Us, We Give Praise to God. Holy Days
