Cereal Box Book Project
|
|
If you could invent a cereal based on the book you read, what would it be? That is your task for this book project! Think of a name and shape for your cereal, you will design a cereal box for it. - Here are the materials you will need:
An empty cereal box, construction paper, scissors, markers or crayons, glue, tape, and white or light-colored paper. General Directions: - Read your assigned Newbery Winning book.
- Design your cereal box.
- Divide your box into appropriate spaces
- Write a rough draft of your items. Proofread for spelling and grammar.
- Transfer your ideas to the box.
Your box will be presented to the class and then displayed in our classroom. Do your best work. If you need ideas or suggestions see your teacher for help. You may also use images found on the computer or in magazines. The Front of the Cereal Box Write the name of your cereal and draw an illustration. Think of a fun and enticing name – for example, for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, you might invent a cereal called Wizard’s Wands, a toasted oat cereal in the shape of lighting bolts. The name and shape of the cereal should relate to your Newbery Book. Make your cereal box look like a real product you might see at the grocery store. The purpose of the front of the cereal box is to entice consumers to buy the product. The Back of the Cereal Box Design a game that is based on the story. It can be a puzzle, a word game, or any other fun activity that might be found on the back of a cereal box. Incorporate information from your book into the game. Try to include characters, setting, and plot. The Right Side of the Cereal Box Under the heading “ingredients,” list the main characters and write a sentence about each one. Also write a sentence or two about the setting. The Left Side of the Cereal Box Write a summary that describes the main conflict and the resolution of the book. Make the words you use sound appealing, as if you are advertising the book. The Top of the Cereal Box Write the title and author of your book along with your name. Criteria for Grading Due March 7th - Is the grammar, punctuation, and spelling correct - 20 points.
- Do the items on the box show original and creative thinking - 20 points.
- Does the cereal box attract/sell your product effectively - 20 points.
