Teacher's Biographies

Mr. Matt Mathews

Mr. Mathews is a graduate of Parkview High School where he was a member of the wrestling and baseball teams.  He graduated from Parkview in 1993, and went on to play baseball at Columbus State University, where he also completed his degree in Health and Physical Education.  He continued his education by receiving advanced degrees from Piedmont College.  His Masters is in Early Childhood Education and his Specialist is in Curriculum and Instruction.  Mr. Mathews has taught at Camp Creek since 2001, where his entire career has been as a PE teacher.  He previously taught at Kennesaw Elementary School, in Cobb county for 2 years.  While at Kennesaw Elementary School, he also coached baseball and softball at Harrison High School.

Mr. Mathews lives in Dacula with his wife Lisa, who is an ESOL teacher at Dacula Elementary School, and their new son Ryan, born in April of 2010.

Mr. Joel Tarpley

Mr. Tarpley is a graduate of Greater Atlanta Christian School where he was a member of the basketball, track, and cross country teams.  He graduated in 1995, and went on to the University of Georgia where he received his degree in Health and Physical Education.  Mr. Tarpley has also received two advanced degrees from UGA, his Masters and Specialist both in the field of educational Administration and Policy.  He has been teaching at Camp Creek since 2005 where he started as a part-time Health teacher.  He moved to a full-time PE teacher in 2007, and has been there ever since.

Mr. Tarpley lives in the Lilburn area with his wife Amanda, a nurse with the Emory Healthcare System and a Swim Instructor at Dynamo Swim Club, and their new daughter Kathryn, born in June of 2009.
