Homework is sent home on Fridays in its own folder. The homework packet is due by the following Thursday. Homework is assigned to reinforce classroom instructional objectives. Homework should include reading independently or to a family member every night for approximately 15-20 minutes. Homework should also include practicing math facts every night for approximately 5 minutes. These two homework practices done on a daily basis, are two of the most important "homework assignments" that a child complete to improve student achievement. Please note these assignments are above and beyond the weekly homework packet. The homework packet is designed to be completed in periods of about 15 minutes each evening. Homework will not be assigned during weeks with standardized testing in our grade level. Homework should be completed independently with minimal assistance by the parent with the exception of the Everyday Math Home Links which need to be completed together with a parent. Students should be responsible for their homework and make sure that all homework is packed in the homework folder, zipped in the book bag, and returned to school completed on Thursdays.
