Cultural Lesson
One person per class (the first to sign up) will be given the opportunity to receive a maximum of 40 points extra credit (in the project category) for researching a hispanic holiday, presenting a mini-lesson to the class, and making a dish that would be typically made to celebrate that holiday. To sign up for this assignment go to My Extra Credit Calendar (below), click on post event (the password is holiday), and write your name as the event description for the day I have selected for holiday presentations.

Extra credit assignment:
I. Make a PowerPoint presentation that addresses the following questions
1. What is the holiday? Why is it celebrated?
2. Who celebrates it? Where?
3. How is the holiday celebrated? Is it celebrated differently in different places?
4. What is a typical food or drink made for the celebration?
II. Include pictures of the event (a short video will be very appreciated) in the PowerPoint
III. Present the PowerPoint to the class
1. Presentation should be practiced.
2. Presenter should speak clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear. Presenter should use eye contact.
3. THE PRESENTER SHOULD ASK QUESTIONS TO ENGAGE THE AUDIENCE.
4. The presentation should be approx. 8 minutes in length.
IV. Show me a draft at least 3 school days before your presentation or you will be forfeited from presenting.
V. Bring enough food for each student to have a bite (not a whole serving).
*There will be a back-up list of students in case the 1st student does not follow through
**I reserve the right to award less than the maximum points to the student if the assignment was not adequately completed
Music Video
Students may make a music video that explains (well) the workings of a grammar concept in Spanish. No more than 2 students may work together to receive extra credit on the music video, and the maximum amount of points awarded is 30 (towards test grade). An example is on the Youtube link below.
*The student/s who signs up for the extra credit must submit the lyrics to their song before they begin video production
