Classroom News
Note September 4, 2008 Dear Parents, Hello and welcome to our classroom! I’m very happy and excited to be spending this school year with your son or daughter. Our first week of preschool was short, but we managed to get to know one another and establish our rules and routines. I look forward to begin teaching your preschooler a great curriculum. It includes concrete skills, such as, learning the alphabet, basic math skills, colors, and shapes. They will learn these skills through lots of hands on activities, art projects, games, songs, stories, and learning centers. My preschool program will also help build your child’s self esteem by teaching them self-care and self-respect. Starting next week, we will begin a two-week theme: “All About Me” followed by two weeks of “Apple” activities. This will take us into the month of October, when we will be learning all about trees, fall leaves, pumpkins and Autumn. We are also planning a fieldtrip with the Four-year-old Preschool class, to Bloomsbury Farm (Pumpkin Patch); details to follow. Today your child will be bringing home a Take Home Folder. This folder will be sent home with your child every day and it needs to be emptied and returned the following school day. I will use this folder to send everything home in; your child’s papers, as well as, weekly notes, school news, Scholastic book orders, fieldtrip permission forms, monthly calendars, and any important messages. You may also use the folder to send me important messages, milk money, and any other school forms. Important News: Starting Monday, September 8th, I am asking parents to provide snacks for their child, while at preschool. This will prevent any complications due to allergies and child preferences .You may send these in daily or I can store a weekly or monthly supply for you. Attached you will find a list of healthy snacks you are encouraged to send. Along with snack, your child will be offered a carton of milk for .25 cents per day, unless other arrangements are made. Your child must have an account set up to do this. Your preschooler will have the opportunity to have their picture taken at school. Picture Day will be Monday, September 8th. Order forms are being sent home today with your child. Please complete the order and send the money with your child on Monday. All students will have their pictures taken for the class photo, but no extra pictures will be taken without the order form and money.
Have A Great Weekend!
