Expanded Form

Expanded form means to write out a word with words or with using each #'s place value in words

Ex. 8,765= eight thousand seven hundred sixty five

in place value form = 8000 + 700 + 60 + 5

4,805 = four thousand eight hundred five

4000 + 800  + _ +5  Nothing in the tens position since there is a zero in the #'s position

6000 + 700 + 80 + 2 = 6782 Add the #'s together to write it in non-expanded form

400 + 2 = 402
