Grade 6 Summer Reading Assignment

Each incoming 6^th grade student is required to read one book from the following summer reading list and to report on this book using the attached Summer Reading Assignment Sheet.  This assignment is to be completed by the student and will count for one test grade in the first marking period. The scoring for this assignment will be: Outstanding/Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory.  This assignment will be graded and averaged into your child’s 1^st quarter grade. The assignment is due Friday, September 16^th.  A variety of books have been chosen to meet the interest and reading ranges of all students.

Choose one of the following to read the summer between 5^th and 6^th grades:

5. Climax: Where does the story reach its most dramatic or interesting point?

6. Conclusion: How does the story end?

7. Pretend the publishers of this book are looking for a new and exciting book cover design.  They ask you to come up with a high quality, attractive cover that is different and unique.  Include the title, author, an illustration, and inside cover information summarizing the book. Use unlined paper for your book cover.
