NYS Assessments and Common Core Standards

NY State Education Department has revised the elementary assessment schedule. Due to budget reductions, NY State Ed has eliminated the grade 5 social studies assessment, traditionally administered in November. Instead, the District has created a local assessment, based on the NYS learning standards, that will be administered early December. ELA and Math state assessments are administered sometime in April.

This year the ELA assessment will be administered April 17-19th. The week we return from Spring Break.

The Math assessment will be administered April 25th -27th.

As New York has shifted its learning standards focus to the Common Core Standards, practice questions are not available as they have been in the past. However, we are working very diligently to teach children utilizing the new CCS so that they will be able to perform to the new standards.  You can view the new Common Core Standards utilizing the following link:
