The Dyer Jr. High Cheerleading Squad recently returned from UT Martin where they attended
UCA cheerleading camp. During this exciting four days the girls learned numerous cheers, stunts,
sidelines, dances, and the value of leadership and teamwork. The Dyer Jr. High Cheerleading
Squad consists of 8th graders: Kathryn Cox, Ashley Dempsey, Sarah Catherine Thornton,
Cortnee Gammons, Lexi Whitley, and Alyssa Kesterson 7th Graders: Bri Pierce and Chelsey
Dodd and 6th Graders: Mikayla Simpson and Anna Lyse Sullenger. Captains for the 2009-2010
season are Kathryn Cox and Ashley Dempsey.
Two girls from our squad tried out for the All-American cheer squad. Just trying out is an honor
and an accomplishment. Those girls trying out were Kathryn Cox and Ashley Dempsey. They
represented our squad well!
The Dyer Eagle squad competed with six other Jr. High Squads
in the final evaluations on Monday. We earned a total of five Superior blue ribbons for our
extreme routine, game day evaluation, sideline evaluation, final cheer evaluation, and final
extreme routine evaluation. We received an Excellent red ribbon for our first cheer evaluation.
We also received trophies during the awards day. The Eagle squad received Most Improved
Junior High Squad and won 4th place for our Extreme Routine dance during Camp Champs.
The Dyer Eagle squad also received a spirit stick on awards day thanks to our awesome spirit
and amazing attitude throughout the week.
The Dyer Eagle squad is coached by Ms. Emily Hunt and Mrs. Jessica Riffe
