There is no new WHAT WILL WE LEARN THIS WEEK? because our new week does not start until Friday. WHAT WILL WE LEARN THIS WEEK? LANGUAGE ARTS Our story this week is an expository non-fiction selection called "Simple Machines". It explains how simple machine make work easier. The reading skills are diphthongs oi and oyand suffixes -er and -or. The Saxon Phonics skills are spelling with /ch/ and /j/ and digraph ie. NEW VOCABULARY: goes kinds heavy against today READ THE WORDS: The forklift goes back and forth. It lifts all kinds of heavy boxes. It stacks them against the wall. The boxes will be shipped today. SPELLING: oil soil voice point boy boil coin oink toy joy *against *heavy MATHEMATICS: We will begin a study of solid geometric shapes. We will also learn to add up to 18. Science/Social Studies: We are learning about seeds, planting, and our five senses.
