What do these pictures have to do with Mrs. Perich? Read and find out! Meet the Teacher Hi! My name is Joanne Perich and I am a first grade teacher at Peters Elementary. I received a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University and a Master's in Education from Lehigh University. My first teaching assignment was at Lehigh Parkway School in the Allentown School District. While my husband was stationed with the U.S. Army in Pirmasens, Germany, I was a substitute teacher in the American school on the base. Upon returning to the States, I taught fourth grade in the Parkland School District for seven years. After taking a long hiatus to raise my family of four children, I returned to teaching in the Northern Lehigh School District as a fifth grade teacher for one year and a first grade teacher for twenty-one years and counting. As for my life away from Peters Elementary, I live in Lehigh Furnace with my husband, Charles, who is a retired biology teacher from Brandywine Area Heights School District. My four children are Daniel, a commercial real estate broker in the Poconos; Andrew, a physical therapist at the St. Luke's facility in Orefield; Jessica, an actress/ theater educator in Baltimore; and Joshua, a former minor league New York Mets/ chemical engineer at Air Products. My children have been a source of great joy and pride, but being a grandmother to my six-year old grandson, Rafe, is the icing on the cake. Besides teaching, music is my second vocation. I am the organist/ choir director at St. John's Lutheran Church in Slatington. In my spare time I love to read, go for walks, watch baseball and basketball, watch the Food Channel, and collect cookbooks.
