French II Pre - AP French II Pre - AP

French II-PreAP is a continuing study of the French world, its language and its people. Emphasis is placed on oral skills while reading and writing skills are going to become highly important. The student will begin to understand the interrelationships of both the English and French languages and will continue to develop a cultural appreciation of the French world. The focus of this course is on intermediate proficiency.

Students in the Pre-AP classes will be asked to study the vocabulary and grammar.  These students will also be assigned readings of poetry and short stories written by native speakers that will be highlighted on the AP Language and or Literature exams.

Students will have at least two McDougall-Littell texts for this class.  The hard cover book Discovering French Nuoveau Blanc (ISBN 0-618-65652-9), the soft workbook (ISBN 0-618-66174-3). If you would like to have another resource, McDougall-Littell makes a Take Home Tutor (ISBN 0-618-51588-7) for additional outside practice and study.

At all levels students are graded using a variety of methods. However, students at this level of study will be graded using an old fashion pencil and paper test, a more modern use of oral recordings or speeches presented to classmates and their ability on a formal writing assignment or a cultural production.

Daily study of vocabulary is very important.  For each student to be successful and enjoy the class, they need to understand what is being said and asked of them.  Our goal at this level is to continue and foster communication with the students in the target language.
