English II Pre AP Tragic Hero Paper English II Pre AP Tragic Hero Paper

Now that you proposed who you think defines a modern day tragic hero according to Aristotle's definition, you are going to fill it in by writing the details in a process paper.

Prompt:  Using Aristotle's definition of a tragic hero, write a paper about how a modern person/character fits those same requirements.  Besides the six characteristics, you will need to address how your choice experiences hamartia, hubris, and a catharsis.

The requirements:

Typed in MLA style (will discuss in class)

For EACH claim, you are required to have a specific example AND an explanation of how that specific claim clearly addresses your claim.  To make that even clearer, there will be at least NINE claims (six traits and three experiences), so you'll need NINE examples and an explanation for each.  Of course, you'll put this in paragraph form.  Pay close attention in class for ideas of how to organize this!

Editing is a must.  More than five errors will result in the paper being handed back without a grade and points will be deducted from the work ethic part of the paper grade (25% of the overall).

Due Dates:

TYPED and PRINTED draft it due on Thursday/Friday.
Final is due the following Tuesday/Wednesday.
