Homework: Students will have homework most nights Monday-Thursday.
They may also have occasional weekend homework. Those who do not
complete homework assignments will receive a homework reminder and attend
study hall. Students should also be reading at least 30 minutes nightly.

Discipline: If a child becomes a discipline problem, he/she will receive
a behavior reminder and spend time in detention. Continuous or severe
problems will result in an Action Plan.

Friday Folders: Most graded work will be sent home in Friday Folders.
Students will also receive a conduct grade in the gradebook weekly. This grade,
along with academic grades, can be viewed on the Parent Portal. Students will
earn an "E" for EXCEEDING behavior expectations, an "S" for
SATISFACTORY behavior, an "N" for NEEDS IMPROVEMENT, and a "U" for
UNACCEPTABLE behavior.
Weekly Grades: Your child's grades will be updated weekly on the Parent Portal.
The best time to check would be on Tuesday. I usually grade over the weekend and
input grades on Monday.

-Detention - The 5th grade teachers have decided to hold detention on Thursday mornings at 7:45. We are hoping that this will help solve the problem that we are having with students coming to school without their homework. We have been sending students to study hall, and we will continue this intervention. However, we need some consequence for the students who are coming in several times a week without their work. After receiving two homework reminders in one week, students will be given an early morning Thursday detention. You will be notified with the weekly progress report that comes home on Fridays. Students will start each week with a clean slate. Thank you for your support as we help your child become more responsible students.
