"Shoot For The Stars- Blast Off On A Reading Rocket" is the theme of the 2010 PARENTS AS READING PARTNERS (PARP) MONTH at John Lewis Child's School. Please join us for a program that will help develop the reading habits of your child. The importance of reading will be re-emphasized in every classroom and home. You, the parents, will play a vital role in our program to promote the importance of reading.
The month is filled with fun activites for the students and their families.
There are book fairs, family fun nights, family poster contest, book report contests, read a T-shirt day, mystery and guest readers, crazy hat day and more!!
Please contact your child's teacher if you or a family member would like to read to your child's class.
PRINCIPAL'S CHALLENGE: The principal will challenge all of the students to read a certain number of minutes. If the students achieve the goal, the principal must perform a "challenge" that is suggested by the children.
Enclosed in your PARP packet you will find a page with "Reading Sheets". For each day that your child reads, please fill it in and at the end of each week, have your child return the appropriate portion to his/her teacher. The minutes read will count toward reaching the goal for the "Principal's Challenge."
The PARP packet will provide you with all of the information you need along with a calendar of events for the month.
