Policy Information

Floral Park-Bellerose School District

John Lewis Childs School

Important Information from

 the Health Office

When your child is absent from school you must call the Health office (327-9319). Report the reason for the absence and when he/she might return. If your child is late he/she must report to the Health office first before going to class.

If your child needs to take prescription medications during school hours, they must be administered by the school nurse.  Medication must be delivered to the nurse by the parent, not the student. We must also have a doctor’s note indicating the frequency and dosage. This also pertains to over the counter medication. There will be no exceptions.

When your child develops a fever, this usually indicates some type of infection. Please, if your child runs a fever, keep him/her home. Keep your child at home at least 24 hours free of fever.

Common communicable diseases your child may come in contact with during the school year are Strep Throat, Chicken Pox, Conjunctivitis, Fifth Disease and Head Lice. Please report any of the above to the Health office as soon as possible.
