Jazz Band

The Jazz Band offers a fun and challenging opportunity for students to explore playing various styles of jazz music and to develop skills in improvisation. Jazz Band is open to students that play any traditional band instrument, as well as piano, keyboard, electric guitar, drum set, and electric or acoustic bass. Jazz Band is typically a Junior High ensemble, but advanced fifth graders will be considered. Jazz Band offers some unique challenges and it is suggested that interested students have a few years of experience on an instrument and have experience reading music. All interested students are encouraged to audition, but students must pass the audition process in order to participate in the ensemble. Jazz Band rehearsals are held once a week on Tuesday evening, from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM. Students are asked to arrive ten minutes early to set up. Band Handbook Concert Attire Recordings: New Jazz Tune
