Feb. 14th, 2010

* I hope everyone has had a warm and enjoyable extended vacation.  Although, an extra two days off is always exciting - I am definitely ready to come back to school.  However, I am hearing that there is a possibility of a late start on Tues. - let's hope not.  Anyway, we WILL have our Valentine's Day celebration on Tuesday and we also will have two birthdays to celebrate that we have missed. 

* I have decided to just extend last week's language arts lessons through this week.  The spelling list from last week will become this week's and the test will be on Friday, Feb. 19th.

* Once again, we will try to reschedule our trip to the Allentown Art Musuem.  As soon as I have the date, I will pass it on to you.

* I now have the Scholastic Book Orders up on line.  I have kept all the catolog dates open so if anyone missed the deadline you can still at any time go into it and order.  Each time a parent orders online I may pick out a free book for the classroom library.  I am asking the students whose parents order online to pick out the book for our classroom. I have a special label to put inside the book telling who the book was donated by.  Thank you to all who have ordered online.

 * Please help your child to learn their math facts.  All students should be completing addition and ready to move onto subtraction.  Students need to complete all 26 levels (a-z) before beginning subtraction.  Once students reach level z they may then progress to learning their multiplication facts.

News that is still newsworthy:

* Don't forget to click on the calendar on the upper right corner of the home page for the latest school happenings along with the Peters' News which is linked to the home page.

* The heat/air conditioning is rather unpredictable in our classroom.  Please consider having your child keep a sweatshirt or sweater in his or her locker.  It really can be cold one minute and hot the next.
