Reading:  On level—Lesson 12--The new stories for the week will be, “Fox and His Big Wish” and “King Midas and His Gold”.

The skills include:

Phonics:  digraph sh, and initial blends

with l, s, r

Fluency:  Reading with expression

Comprehension:  Setting of a story

Grammar:  Special names of places

Above Level:  Our new stories are, “The Ugly Duckling”, and “Duck”.  The related skills are:    

Comprehension:  Compare & Contrast

Phonics:  long a: ai, ay and inflected endings –s, -es, -ing

Grammar:  Nouns

Spelling:  shop, shot, shut, rush, wish, fish, for, more, from, very

Bonus words:  Thanksgiving, feast

 

Math:  Our chapter 9 test will be on Thursday.  You can review tally marks, pictographs, bar graphs, and answering questions about a graph.  You can review each page we did in class by going to www.harcourtschool.com Password Roby to get signed in.  Then go to eproducts—username: wjhazen1

Go to chapter 9 and review the pages with your child.

In chapter 10 we’ll work on place value in double digit numbers.  Please practice adding double digit numbers such as

45 + 33 = ___________.

 

Science:  We’ll work on different weather activities in our weather packet and keep track of the weather for the week.

We’re looking forward to our trip to Oscar Scherer State Park this week with Mrs. Compton’s class.  Be sure to return your permission slip and money.  

 

Social Studies:  This week we’ll read about the Native American people called the Wampanoag and how they helped the Pilgrims survive.  We’ll read about the differences between the Wampanoag and the Pilgrims on the scholastic website.   

Next Tuesday, November 24, we will have a picnic with Mrs. Davis’ class to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Since we are not permitted to serve foods cooked from home, we will be ordering Subway turkey sandwiches.  We’ll also serve fruit, veggies, drinks and dessert.  I am asking for a donation of $3.00 per child to cover the cost.

On Monday we’ll go out at about 10:00 a.m. to play games similar to the ones played at the First Thanksgiving.  Then at 11:00 a.m. we’ll enjoy a special feast with our friends.   

 

Technology: The children will work on www.clicknspell,  Gamegoo, and One More Story.
