~Last week in Kindergarten ~

English Language Arts  We continued to read different stories by Eric Carle and completed many writing activities relating to the books we had read.  We listened to The Mixed - Up Chameleon and then wrote about an animal that we wished we could be and why.  We also wrote about what happened in the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  We read, Draw Me a Star, and then wrote about something we would draw and why.  We also completed a writing piece in our journals about a wish we would want if we wished upon a star.  We made a chameleon project from painted paper that the children had painted in art class.  We also made a star from tissue paper squares and a star tracer.  We painted our "props" for our class play on the story, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and we have spent time on stage getting used to where we are going to be and what are lines are.  Please remember to work at home with your child on their lines for the play.  There were a few children unfamiliar with their lines when we were practicing last week.

We continued to work on our CVC dictation sentences and using sight words correctly within our writing.  (any misspelled sight words within our writing are written 5x each for extra practice)

Math - We worked on counting on from a tens frame and writing the numbers 11 - 19.  We worked with tens frames for the numbers 11 - 16 as we decomposed those numbers and learned the parts to create the whole.  We are practicing writing numbers when given a starting number and an ending number.  Ex....write the numbers 63 through 71.
