Here is a poetry pattern to follow:
1. Brainstorm a list of chocolate words 2. Using the list of words the students will create a poem. 3. Sneaky poetry gives interesting clues that "sneak up" on the subject. 1st line describes what you see 2nd line describes how it feels 3rd line describes how it smells 4th line describes how it tastes 5th line is the object you describing
EX: Yellow, oval-shaped, and small Smooth and firm citrus, fresh, and clean tart, sour, and bitter LEMON

CINQUAIN POEM
Line 1: Write a noun. Line 2: Write two adjectives describing the noun on Line 1; Line 3: Write 3 words ending with -ing (action words) that describe what the noun on Line 1 might do; Line 4: Write a phrase describing the noun on Line 1; and Line 5: Write a synonym of the word on Line 1.
Example: "My Wonderful Valentine"

Make cards for each letter and let a child hold the letter. Write the sentence on the back for the child to say. They stand in line to say their poem to others.

Give your students a piece and paper and have them fold hotdog style. Then cut upward through one layer. Write a clue on the outside. Inside the flap write the double rhyming words. Example: (outside) a wet dog (inside) soggy doggy (outside) a tired flower (inside) lazy daisy
Students select a color and write the following poem using their color.
