Spring Fling!

Open the windows
Swing wide the doors
Roll up the carpets
Dance on the floors
Unshut the house
That stuffy old thing
Let in the light
Let in the spring!
Take off the roof
And shout to the sky
"It feels like spring
AND SO DO I!!"


COLUMBUS

In fourteen hundred and ninety-two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
For seventy two days he headed west.
Then new land was sighted from the crow's nest.
Long years ago he showed he was brave.
On this special day, his memory we save.


Pumpkin Head

We bought a pumpkin big and  round
 that lived the summer through
 without an eye to look at things...
 and now it looks through two.

It used to be all dark  inside
 when growing on the vine,
 but now it has a toothy smile
 and face that's full of shine.

Pumpkins

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins,
Green pumpkins,
Yellow pumpkins,
Big fat orange pumpkins,
These are just a few.

Sad pumpkins,
Surprised pumpkins,
Horrid frightening scary pumpkins,
Droopy drippy drooly pumpkins,
Rotten pumpkins, too.

Cheery pumpkins,
Sunny pumpkins,
Don't forget friendly pumpkins.
Last of all, best of all,
I like jolly pumpkins.

Scarecrows

We're the  farmer's scarecrows

     We scare away the birds,

We keep the  farmer's corn safe

Without any  words.

But when  Halloween comes

We jump out  of the ground

And we  scare the boys and girls

When they  come walking 'round.

SCARECROW  CHANT
 Scarecrow, scarecrow,
 How scary can you be?
 You scared away the crows  (change animals)
 But you can't scare me!
 No, you can't scare me!

An Autumn Day
 Pumpkins in the cornfield,
 Gold among the brown,
 Leaves of rust and scarlet
 Trembling slowly down;
 Birds that travel southward,
 Lovely time to play;
 Nothing is as pleasant
 As an autumn day!

October Leaves
October leaves are lovely
 They rustle when I run
 Sometimes I make a heap
 And jump in them for fun!

 Autumn leaves float quietly down
And form a carpet on the ground
 But when those leaves are stepped upon
 Listen for the crackling sound!

Our Tree

When spring comes round, our apple tree
  is very full of flowers,
 And when a bird sits on a branch the
 petals fall in showers.
 When summer comes round, our
 apple tree is very full of green,
 And everywhere you look in it there
 is a leafy screen.
 When autumn comes round, our
 apple tree is full of things to eat
 And apples hang from every branch to tumble at our feet.
 When winter comes round, our apple tree is full of snow and ice,
 And rabbits come to visit it...
 We think our tree is nice.

Jack-'o-Lantern
 Jack-'o-lantern ,Jack-'o-lantern
 You are such a funny sight
 As you sit there in the window
 Looking out at the night
 You were once a little pumpkin
 Growing on a sturdy vine
 Now you are a Jack-'o-lantern
 See the candle light shine.


Thanksgiving Time
 When all the leaves are off the boughs,
 And nuts and apples gathered in,
 And cornstalks waiting for the cows,
 And pumpkins safe in barn and bin,
 Then Mother says, "My children dear,
 The fields are brown, and autumn flies;
 Thanksgiving Day is very near,
 And we must make thanksgiving pies!

At Grandma's House
 I like the taste of turkey
 Any time throughout the year
 But it never
 seems to taste as good
 As when Thanksgiving's here.

Could be it's all the trimmings
 That are cooked with it to eat-
 But I think it's
eating at Grandma's house
 That makes it such a treat!

Snowflakes
I like snowflakes. Ask me why. Why?
