Reading Workshop

READING WORKSHOP

The students are learning how to be SMART READERS and learning that "READING is THINKING"!

They have also been praticing reading to themselves and building "stamina" each day.

Everyone understands that they can read a book three ways:

* Reading the pictures

*Reading the words

*Retelling the story (and also rereading it)

Reading Workshop will include:

* Read alouds by the teacher

*Interactive Reading with Big Books

Mini-lessons to teach skills/strategies
re: phonics/sight words/vocabulary/comprehension

* Partner Reading

*Guided Reading in small groups

*Independent Reading

*Conferring with Students 1:1

*Book Talks
