ANNOUNCEMENTS:

FCAT Science (8th Graders Only): The 8th Grade FCAT Science test is fast approaching! Science FCAT will be administered on the morning of April 18th! Don't forget that you need to complete 100 FCAT Explorer Science Voyager practice items between now and test day!

SSEF State Science Fair of Florida: PRESS RELEASE

Place Award Winners: (GMS and GMS Gifted Alumni)

·         First Place – Zoology – Evan MacKay (Senior Division) – Vero Beach High

·         Second Place – Botany – Rohan Sadhwani (Senior Division) – Saint Edward’s School

·         Second Place – Engineering – Teresa Winchester (Junior Division) – Gifford Middle School

·         Third Place – Botany – Nikki Bouldin (Junior Division) – Gifford Middle School

 

Special Awards: (GMS and GMS Gifted Alumni)

·         Evan MacKay – Rollins College Scholarship ($20,000), $100 cash award from the Florida Museum of Natural History, and $25 cash award from Citrus Regional Science & Engineering Fair

·         Teresa Winchester – National Aeronautics and Space Administration plaque

IRRSEF Regional Science Fair:

GMS SCIENCE FAIR: Congratulations to ALL of the competitors in this year's GMS Science and Engineering Fair! Thirty-two of Mrs. Flynt's students entered the competition, and twenty-three earned place awards and the opportunity to advance to the Indian River Regional Science and Engineering Fair on February 2nd!

MITOSIS MEMORY: So Mrs. Holden, the freshman biology teacher at VBHS, was using her Marzano learning scale to see who remembered the phases of Mitosis from middle school. The class' answer is pictured here. (Hint: Moose antlers are equivalent to a level 4-Einstein rating!)
