What's Up in Computer Club?

We had two groups in Computer Club for 2007-2008. Our two groups had their first meetings on September 24th and 25th. Both groups will meet for the same number of sessions. Our club members enjoyed themselves as they relaxed in the computer lab after a busy day in school. They had fun surfing the web and creating projects during their club sessions. They learned to surf the web responsibly and utilize many of the search engines. They also played many online educational games using the Internet Favorites on our school website. Our club members learned the basic concepts of making slide shows using Microsoft Power Point. That included many technical skills such as importing, copying, cropping, pasting, and resizing clip art and photos. Our members incorporated the use of backgrounds using gradients, textures, & patterns to enhance their slides. There were lots of fun animating text & clips, adding sound effects, and setting the timing of the slide transitions. We had some future movie makers in the making! Other projects included creating greeting cards and signs for holidays and birthdays by using the Print Shop program. Club members also learned to customize their cards and sign layouts by adding graphics & fancy fonts to showcase their creations. They created signs using MS Word and Power Point also. MS Word and Power Point are not just used for slide shows presentations! We always had fun at our meetings!
