Hello everyone ! My name is Dr. Joanie Edwards. I have been with the Gibson County School District for almost 18 years teaching at Medina Middle, Dyer Junior High, Gibson County High School, and finally becoming a Yorkville Jr. Pioneer in the Fall of 2006. My teaching career has also included West Tennessee Business College, Haywood Jr. High School, Dyersburg State Commuity College, and currently I am still teaching one night per week at The University of Memphis on the DSCC campus. The high school I attended was Memphis-Central High School. I received my B.S. from Lambuth, a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education from Memphis State University, and my Doctorate from The University of Memphis. I have obtained both an elementary and secondary teaching license spanning grades one through twelve, and I am highly qualified to teach "all" subject areas except art and music. I also have an Administrators' license.
I have been married for 41 years to Richard D. Edwards, Sr. and we live in Dyer. Our oldest son, Ward, is a helicopter pilot instructor at Fort Rucker in Enterprise, Alabama. He and his wife, Dr. Christy Riley Edwards, live in Enterprise. Our youngest son, Benjamin, is a private investigator and owns his own computer repair company. He lives in Trenton and enjoys traveling with his job and riding his "Harley". Our daughter, Phoebe and her husband, Ben Foster, live in Brentwood, TN.
We also have six grandchildren: Eden Marie (15), Trey (10), Aspen (6), Logan (4), Evan (4), and Avery (2). My husband and I enjoy raising cattle on our farm outside of Dyer, gardening and landscaping, swimming in our pool, and also spending time at our cabin and boating on the Tennessee River with our children and grandchildren. I hope that this website proves beneficial to you. As I add links to this website, I also hope that you will enjoy navigating around in it and finding useful information that pertains to your 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student.
