Third Grade Reports 2011-2012
Book Reports
Each trimester students will be given an opportunity to study a type of genre. All directions and papers will be sent home on the first on the month. Students will go over with me what they are to do as well as be shown samples of projects and a pacing guideline to help with planning a long term project.
Reserach Reports
Each trimester students will be given directions to research about a topic, read informational text, gather facts and other important details. They will then use the information to create a written report and a project. Students will also present their reports to the class.
Poetry with Pizazz
Each trimester students will memorize a poem and create a piece of art that reflects the mood or feeling of each piece. Students will recite their poems and share their art during a poetry recital each month.
Independent Reading Challenge
Students will set a goal to reach based on their reading level. They will use the Reading Counts books in the library to read independently, take a quiz on the book, and earn points. Each trimester will focus on a type of genre to read. Students can read as many books as they need to reach their goal. Parents will sign off that goals are met - books are actually read - and students will submit their logs for a prize!
