SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS TO BE COMPLETED BY STUDENTS TAKING ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSES FOR 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

Literature and Composition: Sr. Connie Marlowe will meet with the students who will take her course individually and give them the specific assignment.

Language and Composition: Mrs. Brady will meet with the students individually to assign the specifics of the requirements.

US History: Students will be assigned to read and outline Chapters 1,2,3 from the AP textbook.  Guided outline packets for the 3 chapters will be posted on Mrs. Taylor’s website in early summer.

World History: Students will be assigned to read and outline Chapters 1-14 from the AP Review Book.

Government: Students are to read chapters 1 and 2 of the textbook with the guided notes on Mr. McKinnon's webpage. A test will be given on the material during the first week of school. There also be an essay and requirements for completion posted on Mr. McKinnon’s web site. The guided notes are to be completed for the first day of class.

Calculus: Students will be asked to review specific areas of Pre-Calculus and trigonometry that will appear on Mrs. Snyder's webpage and follow the directions sent to them via her e-mail In late July or early August.

College Spanish and College French: Students will be asked to do something interesting with the language (e.g. Watch a movie, have a cooking contest, visit a museum) and keep contact with Dr. Horohoe once per week on gaggle using the language. 

Chemistry: no summer assignment.

Physics: Three teacher-made assessments of content material, graphing and lab skills and regents content material will be given to students. The purpose is to discover how much knowledge was retained from previous courses and the clarity of understanding of concepts. A mathematical portion containing algebra, trigonometry, number reasoning and problem solving will also be included. Students will be graded ONLY on satisfactory completion of the assignments.

Biology: Four chapters from the textbook (Chapters 50-53, pages 1092 to 1197) with questions and key terms are assigned and to be completed. In addition, the chapters are to be outlined. The completed assignments are due the first day of class.
