Welcome Parents!

Welcome to fifth grade! I am looking forward to working with your child for the 2008-2009 school year. This is going to be an exciting year for your child at Gilpin Manor Elementary School. We have many things to look forward to including becoming better readers and writers, multiplication and division, United States history, science experiments, field trips, and classroom parties.

I would like to take a moment to tell you a little bit about myself, both professionally and personally. This will be my second year teaching at Gilpin Manor Elementary School, and I am excited to be a part of the community. I am originally from Pennsylvania and moved to Cecil County before starting high school. After I graduated from Elkton High School, I attended Villa Julie College located in Baltimore County, where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education. I am currently taking graduate courses to receive a Master’s degree in School Leadership.

My mission as a teacher is to help your child learn and grow as an individual and gain a positive sense of self-worth and self-esteem. I am committed to helping your child reach his/her full potential as a learner. I want your child to be successful both academically and socially. My goal is to help your child expand their knowledge in a fun and exciting manner, making your child a lifelong learner in the process.

Teaching is truly a work of heart and is something that I put my heart into. I believe that you child deserves a teacher who is willing to give them the respect and patience they deserve. In return, I desire the same respect and cooperation from your child.

If you have any questions throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can email at jcbednarik@ccps.org or you can reach me at the school by calling 410-996-5040 before 8:30 AM or after 3:45 PM. I would like to have a firm communication base with you and your family to keep you updated with what is going on in the classroom.

I am looking forward to a great school year, getting to know and learn from your child. Thank you for your support. Let us make it a fantastic fifth grade year!
