1st semester options

Do any or all of the following choices for extra credit: Choice 1: Bring up to 5 boxes of tissues for 5 points per box for a maximum of 50 bonus points. The classroom reserves are low, so all boxes are due by the end of the first grading period, Friday, September 25.
Choice 2: Now that you have built an atom model and are experienced in the model building trade, I would like a model of one water molecule. Include the three atoms involved with the bonds. Label each of the atoms and the bonds. While it is useful for your learning, to make it useful for me I would like you to either (1) put magnets on the back so it will stick to the chalkboard, (2) make it hang from the ceiling, or (3) make it stand up on a table top. This water molecule model will be due by the end of the chemistry chapter (Chapter 2) which is Monday, Oct. 19. Maximum points = 50.
Choice 3: Come listen to our first-semester guest speaker, Sandra Magnus, who is an astronaut from Belleville! She will be at the PAC at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 15. Get a program and write a few paragraphs by Friday, October 16 about what you learn for a maximum of 25 bonus points. Bring your family and friends if you want!
Choice 4: Complete the VIRTUAL CELL website worksheet provided in the computer lab on Tuesday. Visit the website, answer the questions, and turn in the worksheet by Friday, October 30, for a maximum of 15 bonus points. Choice 5: Participate in a Campus Clean Up on Veterans Day, October 11 from 9 to 12. 15 bonus points for each hour worked for a maximum of 45 points.
