Dear Families,

Rooms B-6, 4 and 7 are planning a field trip together.  Our field trip is on December 4, 2009 to see the play The King and I performed at the Jewish Community Center in La Jolla.  We will leave school around 8am and arrive back to school no later than 1:30pm.  We will eat lunch at the Jewish community Center so please pack a sack lunch.

The total cost is $8 per ticket.  If possible please pay with a check.  Please make the check out to Hearst Elementary School.  If parents are attending, please include additional money for your tickets.  We only have a limited number of tickets, so if parents would like to attend then you need to get your money in ASAP.

Please turn in permission slips by Wednesday, November 4, 2009.

As a reminder, to be a field trip parent volunteer at Hearst Elementary, you will need to complete both sides of the Request to Conduct Volunteer Screening Form (attached to permission slip sent home on 11/2), as well as provide proof of a current negative TB test to fulfill the volunteer criteria mandated by the San Diego Unified School District.

If you would like to drive, please fill out the bottom of the yellow paper sent home on 11/2 and include money for your ticket.  Please provide us with your Driver License and current car insurance information.

Free Parenting Classes through Parent University

  Ballard Parent Center in Old Town will host the first quarter of free parenting classes through Dec. 9, on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.  Classes include "Passport to Success," "raising Skilled Readers," and "Tools for Life," and are offered in both English and Spanish.
