Ruston Competition Cheerleaders Perform Well at NCA Nationals

The RHS Competition Cheerleaders competed at NCA Senior and Junior High Nationals in Dallas on December 28-29, 2008. They placed 5th in the nation in the Varsity Game Day division and 6th in the nation in the Varsity Non-Tumbling Division, making them the first cheerleaders at RHS to bring home national cheerleading trophies. A host of family and friends made the trip to Texas to support these ladies. The squad represented Ruston High School well and have started a new Bearcat tradition.

Cheerleaders Win First Place at UCA Regionals

The Ruston High Competition Cheerleaders won first place in the large varsity non-tumbling division at the UCA Louisiana Regional held December 14th at Ouachita Parish High School. They also received a bid to compete at the National High School Cheerleading Championships in Orlando. Twenty-three girls make up the competition squad. They are coached by Heather Reeder and Sonni Vincent with choreography by Kyle Whittington. A large number of students, faculty, parents and fans came to support the squad at Regionals.
