Rider Row Procedures & Safety Rules

It is our goal to make the pick-up of students after school as safe as possible. Students being picked up by a parent or guardian will be released to the cafeteria at 3:25 PM for dismissal.

The following are the afternoon pick-up procedures.

§         All cars will need to park in a parking spot in the upper lot along the trees or in the lower lot. There are 115 available parking spots.  No Parking in the fire lane or along the street which includes the entrance and exit leading to the school.

§         All students will be available for pick-up through the outside doors to the cafeteria.

§         Parents will be allowed to enter the cafeteria from the outside doors and form 4 lines starting at 3:20 (Family, Kindergarten, First Grade and Second Grade Lines). Students will be lined up on the floor on the opposite side of the cafeteria in the same manner.

§         Parents will need to show their rider card to the staff and then the student(s) will be released to the parent.

§         Parents will need to exit the same door from which they entered.

§         Students who are signed out in the office will meet their parent/guardian in the cafeteria at 3:25 PM.

Safety Rules:

  • Students may not be taken from the hall at the closing of the school day.
  •  Students will only be released to parents with identification tags.
  • Identification tags may be picked up in the Primary Office by filling out a Tag Request form.
  • The tags are color coded. Each family or car pool is assigned a number corresponding to their students. Staff will only release students to parents/ guardians with their matching number.  Green tags represent a parent/guardian picking up a kindergartener. Red tags represent a parent/guardian picking up a first grader. Blue tags represent a parent/guardian picking up a second grader. Yellow tags identify that the parent is picking up children in more than one grade level.
  • Students without rider row tags will only be sent to the Rider area if they provided the office with a written notice. Students without notes will be put on the bus.

Why are students not being released to the front of the school?

During the past few years there have been an ever increasing number of students to be picked up by parents and not riding the district provided transportation.  The area in front of the school has become over crowded and not a safe option for students, parents and staff involved. The area in front of the building is a fire zone which allows emergency personnel to easily access the building.
