OCTOBER P.E. NEWS 2009-2010 What are we doing in gym? Last month kindergarteners surprised Ms Rovainen by their stamina. Everyone ran the ¼ mile and immediately played tag games at recess. Very impressive! We also dribbled and kicked balls and played several games that lead up to soccer. We just started playing “Number Soccer”. The “Big Fifteen” to all members of the class for a successful game. Students are throwing foam balls up as high as possible. First one to hit the ceiling teaches everyone else how they did it. Students have also started throwing and catching. We practice to be ready for basketball. You may hear about “Touché Turtle” and “Snakes and Mice”; two games that are requested frequently. Every class has its favorites. Thanks to Anna for asking at home what the “P” in P.E. usually stands for! As students thought about “P” words we also liked Power Education, Play Education, and Peace Education. What is important in Physical Education is that we are the Kindergarten Team learning from each other to improve each student’s personal best in a variety of activities. “Mazal Tov!” to the Kindergarten Team. B’shalom, Ms Rovainen
