Beggining Season Letter All Sports 09/10(5-6 Grade)

Dear 5^th & 6^th Grade Parents in the Talmud Torah of St. Paul community:

Talmud Torah of St. Paul will again be participating in the LIST (League of Independent School Teams) program for the 2009-2010 school year. We will play soccer, basketball, and volleyball, in fall, winter, and spring, respectively and also participate in the Ultimate Frisbee Clinics and Track & Field LIST Meet. The information in this letter will give you a preliminary overview of our sports program for the coming year.

SOCCER

¨                               The soccer season is from August 31 to November 4.

¨                               Regular practice will take place on Mondays & Wednesdays at the Talmud Torah field, from 4:15 to 5:45.

¨                               The soccer party will take place November 4.*

¨                               Cost for the soccer season will be $200. This includes supervision and a snack before the sports activity begins. If you cannot pay the full fee, please call Hector or Andrew to make other arrangements.

BASKETBALL

¨                               The basketball season will run from November 9 to February 17.

¨                               Practices will take place Mondays and Wednesdays at the Talmud Torah gym, from 4:15 to 5:45.

¨                               The basketball party will take place February 17.*

¨                               Cost for the basketball season will be $250. This includes supervision and a snack before the sports activity begins. If you cannot pay the full fee, please call Hector or Andrew to make other arrangements.

VOLLEYBALL

¨                               Volleyball season will run from February 22 to May 10

¨                               Practices will take place Monday and Wednesday at the Talmud Torah gym, from 4:15 to 5:45.

¨                               The volleyball party will take place May 10.*

¨                               Cost for the volleyball season will be $250. This includes supervision and a snack before the sports activity begins. If you cannot pay the full fee, please call Hector or Andrew to make other arrangements.

ULTIMATE FRISBEE

·                                 Ultimate Frisbee Clinics will run on May 17, May 26, May 31 and June 2.

·                                 Clinics will take place at the Talmud Torah Field.

¨                               Cost for the Ultimate season will be $60. This includes supervision and a snack before the sports activity begins. If you cannot pay the full fee, please call Hector or Andrew to make other arrangements.

 TRACK & FIELD

¨                               The Track & Field LIST Meet will take place at the end of May or the beginning of June. More information will follow.

SWIMMING TEAM  (January to March 2010) and  TENNIS (April 22 to June 3, 2010)

Parent managers are needed! We will be looking for a parent or two to manage each of these teams. The tasks include helping to arrange transportation, snacks, and end-of-season party. Please call Mary at the Talmud Torah office (651) 698-8807 to volunteer.

Sponsors needed!  You or your company can help to improve our Athletic Program by sponsoring one or more of our teams. Please call Hector if you are interested in more information about this program.

Reminder: The 9^th Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament for students, families, and adults will be held in March 21, 2010. Proceeds from this special event help to purchase needed equipment and subsidize students who cannot afford to pay the fees, but want to participate in our after-school sports programs.
