My Booklist is a sample of books organized by their Lexile numbers. The
Lexile Framework for Reading is a tool designed to match up students with books that are on their reading level. Students are given a computerized test (SRI) several times during the school year to chart growth and to determine their Lexile number.
Books are rated and given Lexile numbers as well. So, when students choose books to read, they should select books at or near their own Lexile number, according to the most recent SRI test. In the school library, many books have the Lexile number printed on a label on the inside cover. The book's Lexile number can also be determined by logging on to www.Lexile.com and entering the title and/or author of the book. However, not all books have been assigned a Lexile number. If you are unable to find the Lexile number, try logging on to www.renlearn.com to get the grade level of the book. To find links to these sites, click on "My Links" at the left of this page. Below is a Lexile Scoring Guide, followed by the booklist:
Summary:
800 – 1050 = Proficient
500 – 799 = Basic (below grade level)
0 – 499 = Below Basic (well below grade level)
