Dear Families,
The Halloween spirit is surely here and we are all getting excited for Halloween. We read several Halloween related books, learned about the skeletons in our body, made skeletons with Q tips, and performed a very exciting Sink or Float activity. The students loved being scientists and making their hypotheses about each object we put in the water and then observing the results.
On Monday we will spend the morning involved in stations where students will enjoy doing many Halloween related activities. You are welcome to come spend the morning with us (9:30-11:00). We will begin getting ready for the parade at 1:00pm. If you'd like to come help with costumes, it would be appreciated. After the parade the kids will do a little poetry recitation for our guests before the party. Hope you can come watch!
Math
You may have noticed the colorful math booklets your child brought home last week This is a new program our school is piloting called EnVision Math. It correlates well with the NYS Common Core Standards for math and seems to be a comprehensive program. There is an online lesson introduction on the promethean board that is very appealing to the students. We have been lucky enough to use the Promethean boards in different classrooms so we may utilize this technology component to the math program.
Have a great week!
