Grading Policy Grading Policy

Each quarter I will give 3 major tests, numerous homework assignments (that are checked for completion), and numerous quizzes.

This year I am grading based on a point total.  For each problem you complete correctly on a test or quiz you get one point.  Each homework assignment is worth two points.  If the entire assignment is completed you receive two points.  If some of the assignment is completed you receive one point.  If none of the assignment is completed you receive a zero for that assignment.  At the end of the quarter the final grade is based on a percentage of the total points each student earned compared to the number of possible total points.

For example, if there were a total of 80 points possible in a quarter, and a student earned 60 of the 80 points, that student's grade on their report card would be a 75.  (I got a 75 by dividing 60 by 80 and moving the decimal 2 places to the right.)

Every student will be told on the first day of school that I do not accept late homework, unless the student was absent when the assignment was assigned or checked.  If a student is absent and intends to make up the homework assignment they should do so in a timely manner.
