Ms. Brennan's Course Outline
1. To ensure student success, the following supplies are required in class every day: 3-ring binder, loose-leaf paper, blue/black pens, red pen, highlighter, and five insertable page dividers (these will be BLANK labels will be completed in class)
2. Students are expected to be IN the classroom, IN their assigned seats when the bell rings. Any exceptions to this, without a pass, will be marked as a Tardy. Consistent attendance in class is necessary for success.
3. NO eating or drinking is allowd in the classroom, due to cleanliness & insect concerns. All food & drinks should be thrown out BEFORE entering the classroom.
4. At no time will a student take, touch, or borrow anything belonging to another person without obtaining permission FIRST. This includes items from the teacher’s desk and found in the general classroom space.
5. The bell at the end of class does not dismiss you, Ms. Brennan will dismiss you. Dismissal will not happen until all work spaces are clean & free of trash, books are to be placed neatly under seats, and all borrowed materials have been returned.
6. Grades will be determined by: tests, quizzes, class participation, complete class notes, homework, & projects/presentations. Homework is listed on the board daily and on Ms. Brennan’s website calendar. It is the student’s responsibility to get their assignments off the board if they are absent. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to use their TTMS agendas to keep close track of deadlines & HW due dates.
7. To reinforce the ideals of responsibility, self-discipline, and independence within my students, I will only accept late work for 24 hours after the original deadline. Work accepted late will receive half credit.
8. A complete heading is to be written neatly in the upper, right-hand corner on any assignment that is going to be collected (full name, date, class period).
9. Students should adhere strictly to the Code of Student Conduct. No disruptive, disrespectful, or defiant behavior will be tolerated.
10. Tests will be announced in advance. Scheduled quizzes, as well as pop quizzes, will be given frequently. It is expected that assignments will be complete and on time. It is the student's responsibility to be completely prepared for all tests & quizzes.
11. Students are deserving of their own opinions, but are expected to RESPECT the opinions of others. To speak & participate in class, a student will need to raise their hand & wait their turn before speaking.
12. Students MUST have their Tequesta Trace agendas if they wish to leave my classroom. This agenda serves as their school-wide hall pass to the bathroom, clinic, other classrooms, etc. No yellow hall passes will be available to the students, therefore only their agendas will be accepted as passes to leave my classroom.
Class Rules (as posted in the classroom):
1. Be on time. 2. Be prepared. 3. Be respectful. 4. Work hard. 5. PARTICIPATE!
Classroom Management: I run a very interactive and lively class. Most students are very responsive to this structure, however, all students are expected to adhere to the Code of Student Conduct. Students are expected to come to class completely prepared every day. Failure to meet these expectations will result in: ~ a verbal reminder to the student & a loss of participation points ~ a parent phone call ~ a referral to the grade-level administrator
Thank you in advance for your understanding & cooperation of these rules & expectations.
