Classroom News
Reading: Your child will read “On Saturday” this week and the focus skill will become using clues from a story to draw conclusion. Spelling: TIC-TAC-TOE will be due Friday. If your child is in the enrichment spelling group please complete the spelling packet enclosed with your newsletter. Vocabulary: Your child will have both high frequency and robust vocabulary words to study each week. The students will be assessed this week on the focus skill of cause and effect, fluency, cold read comprehension, spelling, high frequency, robust vocabulary, phonics, grammar, math, and social studies. Math: The students transitioned very easily into the geometry portion of Big Idea 3 from our math series. They did a great job recognizing 2D and 3D shapes and were able to identify their attributes with ease. Please continue to check the daily lesson sheet when helping your student with each night’s homework. It will show the strategies taught for individual lessons. Toys: Please remember that toys are allowed on Fridays for Friday Free Time only. No toys should be brought to school any other day of the week. Report Cards: Report cards will go home on Tuesday, 4/10 for the third nine weeks. I will meet with all parents during the course of the final nine weeks to go over all benchmark assessments for the year. Please be patient-Discovery Education testing can’t take place until May and this means most of the conference will be held in the latter part of May. However, if a child is struggling in a subject area and this is noted on the third nine weeks report cards I will meet with you at the beginning of the 4th nine weeks. Benchmark Assessments: If any parent is available during the course of the 4th nine weeks to volunteer hours to assist in the administration of benchmark assessments please let me know. The help would be appreciated! ***We are in definite need of the following donations: CLASSROOM SNACKS, Clorox Wipes (we always have a need for these), Lysol spray, and white copy paper (please).
