We are working on multiplication. Please work with your child at home. Multiplication is a skill that students must master. This week we will review the facts 0-6. In addition, we will learn the 7 facts. Students will have homework on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to help review these facts. A fact quiz will be given on Friday. Students will have 20 minutes to complete 100 facts. It is vital that students memorize these facts for fluency.
Another area of focus this week will be on the properties of multiplication. Students are already familiar with the commutative, identity, and zero properties. This week the students will learn to apply the associative property by multiplying 3 factors and how to solve more difficult multiplication problems by breaking apart arrays, which is the distributive property.
There are several web sites that will help learn the facts. You can find many of these in my math game section.
